It's a shock, but no surprise that your "friend" should stick you like that after 29 years. That's what you get for remaining in the cult: you surrender your own thinking and recite what you read. Your "friend" is still brainwashed by the Mo Letter that is full of inconsistencies, inaccuarices and lies about you and your late wife.
Matt, I can't imagine what you go through, but whatever you do, you know you don't have to buy into the bullshit that the murder had anything to do with you or your spiritual state. You know by now it wasn't your fault. Smart ass Berg got so many things wrong and just blabbed off a Mo Letter so he could scare his followers into giving him more money every month.
Matt, you are not anymore "abnormal" than the rest of us, at least me anyway. I too had nothing but "surface" friends for years after leaving the group. In much of the US, "friends" can be shallow, and you don't know where you really have people. In the West, people use words like "love" and "friend" too easily, when they don't put anything lasting behind it.
You have a friend in me, and I pray you will find some real and close friends in your life. You're a good guy, and don't you forget it. Your own family says so too!
