There is a high percentage of drug/alcohol addiction and suicide in the gay population but the reason is not because of the sin of a normal, though minority, orientation.
Your view is not an uncommon one, and there are many people who are homosexual who are kicked out of their family or beaten or rejected based on the same thing you say: that their basic identity is SIN. Imagine if you were told that your sexuality was sin (if you are heterosexual) and you forced yourself to live a homosexual lifestyle to be accepted by society or your family. That's one big REASON that there is is a high percentage of suicide and addiction.
