I was curious about how the word "booty" came to have its slang meaning, so I looked it up on one of those etymology wikis. I knew that "booty" came into American English from the African American community, where it's sometimes pronouned boo-tay. Seems that it may be a corruption of the word "body," which makes sense for it to refer to certain body parts. Booty-licious for spacecraft docking? That makes sense, too, as that would be the joining of two mechanical bodies in space.
Re: Karen & Peter's review of the Law of Love (LoL) for doctrinal and scriptural soundness. You know as well as I do that just about any belief can be supported by scripture references and sophistry.
One of the big problems with LoL that I see has to do with the problem of intent or motivation. First, we can seriously fool ourselves about our true motivations. Second, even if our motivation is good, when the outcome of our action is harmful to another or to ourselves, we have to question the morality of our action. I didn't make that point as clearly as I wanted to in my essay on Deceivers yet True.
One of the big issues people have with seeing the harm they do to others is that often they don't consider the entire community. Parents who are pre-occupied with romantic drama have been known neglect their children.
I don't think scripture prohibits polygamy or polyandry per se--that is, plural marriage with loyalty and fidelity among the partners--but I think these arrangements create a host of problems for the offspring for which there is little social support in most cultures.
