I felt certain that Germany had Montessori Schools at some point, but didn't know if they were still in existence there. I've heard of the Waldorf Schools and, yes, there are similarities in their approaches. I once read a very good book entitled "And the Children Played," about the children of a Canadian or American playwright who lived in England. The parents hired a tutor for the children, when they didn't like going to school, who was trained in the Waldorf method.
