I don't know what berg believed in his earliest times. I do know that he boasted of having sex with prostitutes on the road while a travelling saleman, maybe even then he was justifiying his 'law of love' theory.

I do know also that from the early letters, they were off the track. Jesus People or Revolution, self righteous and building a platform of total obedience to berg and leadership. (because of course obeying Berg was obeying God, he was his mouthpiece or so he proclaimed)

Even Old Church New church. Mountain men, Feet of Faith. All were cultivating us to obedience to Berg. (why when you were being retrained was the rally cry, 'get back to the basics' not the basics of the Bible, but the Mo letters)

I know I disagree with a few about this, but even his 'for God sake follow God' glorified berg and how obedient he was to God's voice.(building our trust in him that we could listen and follow him)

To me he did not know Christ even from the beginning. Maybe some of the old leaders did, maybe thats where the confusion comes in.
