I think what Ray might be trying to get across here is that Berg had some of the "fundamentals" right - (whatever that means and so far no one has explained it to me satisfactorily). That in the beginning that's all we saw and most of it was "fundamental." Hence, we didn't hear about all those Mary/virgin/sex this and that theories until later. About the only fundamental thing I want to recall as a positive step would be finding Jesus as a person and not a religion. But even that simplistic and innocent outlook was marred in the rest of the "fundamentals" we were pelted with and which confused that one positive outlook. Maybe I should just say dogmas.
