Sticking to the fundamentals of Christian faith is not that difficult if a person is determined to live a very simple Christian faith. Way back in the early church they were already boiled down quite simply. Those were the basic, basic doctrines Christians agreed to agree on, no matter how much they disagreed on secondary doctrines. Berg and almost all cult leaders just "had" to get in and tinker with and muck up even the fundamental bedrock truths.
