I haven't read the other posts in this thread yet, & I can see there's quite a few, but I need to say that you've described my own feelings and I've been experiencing exactly the same things when it comes to prayer and meditation. That why I like coming to the board, this is what it's for: to understand and to be understood. It's a good feeling.
