I threw this posting out on the board in order to work on issues I have that are related to certain forms of Christianity. It is good to hear from people who are apparently transforming a tradition that has historically been used to repress and subjugate women.
I count myself among the walking wounded when it comes to having a great deal of certainty about a personal relationship with a diety that one can call "he", "she," or even "it."
There are many sources of moral authority other than Judeo Christian scripture. To name a few, there are the Koran and Hadiths, the Four Nobel Truths, Aristotilian logic, the U.N. Declaration of Human Rights.
Immanual Kant is the particular source for the ethical maxim that is always, categorically wrong to treat another human being as a mere object of utility.
