Even though you didn't ask me my advice is to do what your heart tells you.
It was the continual support and love of my mother that made up my mind about leaving the family. She continued to help me and her grandchildren when I was in the Family and eventually provided my means of escape. I knew when the time came I could depend on her to help me leave and she did. If you would sleep easier at night knowing they have a car and you can afford it I say give them the money.
