Interesting. I had a girlfriend once, and her brother in law was a senior civil servant -- top dog. But also an alcoholic. He stopped drinking for a year, but did not seek treatment, and so he was referred to as a 'dry drunk.' He was not really making progress, and could relapse at any time.
I found that interesting. So much of what is important goes on under the surface.
