Laura,

Right on sister! My wife taught in the public school system for 8 years, and she witnessed the double standard all the time.

She told me a sad story about what happened to a little third-grade girl in a co-worker's classroom on aThanksgiving celebration. The children were all asked by the teacher to give her things they were grateful for on Thanksgiving. She would then write the responses on the blackboard.

The kids called upon said things like "I'm thankful for my mommy and daddy" and things like that. Then a little girl said, "I'm thankful for Jesus!"

The teacher frowned at the little girl and said, "No, we can't write that on the blackboard." The little girl was embrassed and crushed.

What was that teacher thinking? Didn't she know the historical and religious context of Thanksgiving day? Does she not know to whom the thanks were given? We are talking about the pilgrims, for crying out loud! They were devout Christians.

What we are seeing is an erosion of freedom of speech and religion in this country, and the "tolerance" that these people preach is not granted to Christians.
