Hola Miguel,
De donde eres? Yo estaba pensando que tu eras un Latino con un nombre como "Miguel."
I too support attempts to increase our nation's security, because of 9/11, but I think that the "Patriot Act" is a dangerous law to personal liberty. I trust the current president to use it wisely, but what if we get yet another charming scoundrel in the White House one day? He could use that law to harass his political enemies and really abuse the privacy of innocent citizens. Doesn't it bother you that the "Patriot Act" allows government agents to spy on your library or bookstore records? I have nothing to hide, but it's the principle of the thing.
I think it was a sneaky trick to call this legislation the "Patriot Act." Makes it sound so patriotic, doesn't it? Kind of like mom and apple pie. I bet sneaky politicians could name legislation to kill all mothers and outlaw apple pie the "Mom and Apple Pie Act" and it would pass. After all, what politician wants to go on record as voting against mom and apple pie?
You are correct. The "Patriot Act" should have some built-in checks and balances, but it really doesn't. That's why it is bad legislation.
