But I didn't realize it until he was nearly 15. We found out when he injured his right hand and could not use it to write. When he used his left hand, he found out it was a lot more comfortable and easier to write. I think a lot of times we just don't know because it happens so rarely. My son ended up being ambitextrous (sp?) as my father did. They had no emotional problems because of it. I think your father was more troubled by his alcoholism, though I'm sure getting beaten for writing with the wrong hand had its effects also. I'm not minimizing that.
