I saw it a few years ago and I was shocked at the dynamics in the film. Whoever wrote the script had insight. It was uncanny in parts.
What I have seen is that many of these dynamics exist in any closed group. It is eery. Over the years I've seen docs on exmember JW's, Krisna's, and so much is similar. Last night on Dateline there was a show about polygamous Mormon heretics in Utah, near the Arizona border. Deja vu all over again.
So much of it is about power, control, and manipulation.
Ann Tylor wrote a book entitled 'Back when we were grownups.' Sometimes, when I'm in my daily beat-up-on-myself session, I think we exers should collaborate on a book entitled 'Back when we were ___holes,' or idiots or whatever.
