Lucky you who didn't hurt many or any while in the family. I didn't either but some feel like their acts indirectly resulted in promoting those teachings. Blaming the environment and the coercive tactics can only go so far. Many join innocently as most of us did but I am sure some joined because of the fringe benefits they got, meaning the power they exercised on others. This whole thing makes me think of the many idealist people who are drawn to company that turn bad and evil afterwards. Were all Germany and all the Germans guilty of Hitler's rise to power? Some people think there were only 2 or 3 good people in Germany. Other think that they only represented the tip of the iceberg and that there were many more. A whole discussion there but the parallel with the family is undeniable.
