Ray,
You're correct on one point. We Christians in America certainly haven't experienced the level of persecution that Christians in countries such as China, N. Korea, the Sudan and other places are experiencing. But to claim that religious persecution doesn't exist because Christians aren't being tortured and murdered in the U.S. is ridiculous.
Religious persecution covers a wide range of actions. If you are fired for wearing a crucifix on the job, that's a form of persecution. Have you read Mr. Limbaugh's book? He documents many cases of how our increasingly secular society has become more intollerant of Christianity. Even our U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice said after a recent court ruling that the supreme court has become openly hostile to Christianity.
It's a slippery slope, and if this slide continues, the more drastic forms of persecution will certainly follow. It's the "It can't happen here" belief that lulls believers into inaction.
Finally, your comment about Christ not trying to place the ten commandments in the Roman Senate is specious. Christ wasn't trying to disciple the Romans, nor was he ever in Rome.
