I haven't read either article, but just judging from my experiences, I tend to agree with you. My son who was in about the 4th grade had been given a very special bible at Sunday school and they even engraved his name on it. He was so excited, he brought it to school for show and tell, without my knowledge. They told him he couldn't have that at school and not to bring it again. I was aghast. It made a young child think that there was something bad about his new bible, can you imagine? I hate that. Yet, the ACLU was trying to argue that an Indian Seik should be allowed to bring his sword to school because it's part of his religion????? Doesn't that sound hypocritical and targeting Christians? I sure think so and I agree that it is a dangerous trend. The argument of diversity sounds good as the freedom poster was stating, but they are not seeing the whole picture, they are being duped by these intelligent arguments. Another thing that gets me is that they cannot teach ANYTHING from the bible at all, not creation, nothing, not even the poems of Solomon as great literature. But they can teach evolution which is so much theory and conjecture. Even as a high school student, that made no sense to me. I think they should teach creation and evolution together and let the students decide for themselves. That will never happen though.
