You're right about the often hostile atmosphere on exer chat boards, and it is a shame. In my opinion, the exfamily.org boards are more friendly, but even here it does have occasional squabbles that get a bit ugly. Some of us enjoy a spirited debate about a variety of issues, but others misinterpret such debate as a personal attack on themselves and suddenly the debate degenerates into a digital version of a fist-fight. I believe we exers often have old TF baggage that causes a lot of the friction. Many folks spent half their lives in that toxic environment, and that can have lasting effects on how they interact with others.
