My favorite verse goes something like: "These words that I speak to you, are spirit and they are life."
I also do not believe that the bible is perfect. Obviously it is not. There are places where it makes direct contradictions about important events between the gospels, depending on who is writing. Also, in a clockwork orange sort of way, it can be used to justify or underscore the worst kinds of behavior and doctrines.
I am not even "Christian", but when I remember this verse, it reminds me of what is of "God" or "Good" imo, and that is what moves me and makes me feel something that is inspiring, or touches me and feels like the truth compared to my conscience. (You know, that thing that the family called 'the enemy'.) I also realize that for different people, what makes one person tick can throw another off track. That is why when it comes to anything "spiritual" I feel like it is very personal.
