Good for you and Congrats on taking another step away from the dogma that was forced on you by "the false prophet". Myself, I kinda like a nice easy goin' Church, where you can take part or not, as you please. Whether you sing and pray out loud, or just inside your head, doesn't matter. God can hear you, and He comforts you and can help you, just the same.
In your second paragraph, it reminded me of a poem I was reading today :
