Although having been sprinkled with water as a baby, which
isn't the same as being baptized...from the meaning
more like being fully submerged...I felt the need to
have an adult baptism almost 4 years back...that was
in a pool & I would have preferred natural running
water...My son got baptized last year as a 15yr. old in natural water.
Otherwise the congregation I go to believes in simply
blessing the babies, something also Jesus did...
I am not saying it's totally a matter of age, but to me it appears, that a personal commitment, a repentance etc. is coinvolved in that step, something you wouldn't necessarily expect of a baby.I heard pro & cons of baptizing babies.Just
take a concordance & make a study...may be a googlesearch..also the Didache gives a detailed record of how they baptized in the early days.
(I've seen a report about some travelling russian
orthodox priest, who baptized babies in a river.
He was working on a "church boat"...really a church
on a boat....an evangelist told me, that many kids
died in Upsala/Sweden, cause they baptized the babies also in winter & only the strongest would
survive that...)
