I read the article. Rooney is a cynic, that's all I see. Maybe he's also agnostic or atheist. Oh well.

I've thought a little about Robertson's claim that "God" told him W will win by a wide margin. That doesn't leave much room for free will, does it? What if W doesn't win or wins by a slim margin or by yet another Supreme Court decision? Does that mean Robertson is a false prophet? I tend to agree with Rooney that Robertson sounds kind of nutty when he makes remarks like this.

Just like Rooney sounds nutty by claiming to speak for God. He's mocking a fairly pretentious claim on Robertson's part, imo.

I don't agree with Rooney that Gibson appears wacko. Gibson seems like a very astute artist and screwd businessman. I think he truly believes in his artistic vision of the Christ story. It just so happens he also knows how to effectively market that vision. Even though the movie isn't something I can handle watching, I think it's great that other people are being moved so deeply by it.

And if Gibson makes a small fortune from this--all the better for him. Why discount the good fortune that comes to someone who took a calculated risk and worked hard to achieve something he believes in?
