Well I'm glad you don't have a problem with the language. I do. For me, I see a whole lot of steps between us and the perfection of the Father.

What is the perfection of the Father to you? How is He a role model for you?

For me, He is unfathomable, beyond my comprehension, beyond my reach. I don't even think of trying to "be" like Him, because I simply don't understand Him at all, and we are separated by my human condition. I trust He understands me though.

Yes, "striving" does put a different nuance to it all, but I can't even think of striving to be like the Father. That's my relationship and understanding of "the Father" anyway.

I'm not sure what you mean by "God judges the heart, isn't that what perfection is all about?"

"Why should we be satisfied with immaturity?" and the rest of that paragraph had nothing to do with my points. I wasn't asking for us to be satisfied with immaturity.
