But it's perfectly understandable, given that the Family was an extremely toxic faith environment. No matter WHAT faith the Family had been pushing, people would have left it burned out on the relgion. Had it been Muslim or Buddhist, you'd see a lot of people fed up with Islam or Buddhism.
