There are people who on their very own read the bible and totally misunderstand it, the spirit of it, the context it is written in, and they NEED someone or someones to teach them. The problem is finding the right teacher or someone that will explain things objectively and leaving the matter open for further discussion. Then you find a decent teacher and the flock gets all agaga, and feeds the teachers ego and boom, you've lost a good teacher. It's like a cycle. The thing is, to look up warning signs and remember them and to stay away from predators who are everywhere in life.
