I totally agree when you say that God doesn't need to be defined by something religious. This is the middle-ground I can come to with people who have a strong faith in religion. But the belief that a certain religion is the only way is where I differ and find myself drawing back, or getting defensive, as in the above 'murmur' post.
Laws of cause and effect, I am trying to instill this concept in my children. It's not a concept hold solely by the Christian faith (do unto others) but is found in so many other religions, I think it's just a common principle of nature, do you? Who is the someone and the something that you read?
