I guess you hit the nail, they're comfortable with this & that...however, I should be fair in including also myself here, but inside I know, that following Jesus, is just not really a matter of comfort...if the master had tons of discomfort, which He overcame obviously, I have to allow something on some level myself...
But I don't think that an ascetic, monk-style lifestyle would be the answer (studying some of the biographies of the very early monks in the desert and elsewhere gave me some respect for their dedication, however I don't know what of the words of the NT could have sincerely driven them to that...)
But you know, that many interpretations have heavy consequences, e.g. the interpretation of :
KJV 1 Corinthians 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. {done away: Gr. vanish away}
Darbyist etc. see in the perfect the Word & hence
believe stuff like tongues etc. have ceased...
I read posts on boards, where the tone between charismatic people & "Darbyists" got quite ugly,
what a shame...
So what many topics, issues is concerned, I kind of sit on the fence myself, observing the opponents, but I know, sooner or later I should come to a conclusion, takes time & efforts...
