I reposted you here, Carol. Hope that's OK. I agree with your assessment, that America needs to repent. It's hard to know where to put this, since I think this is a spiritual topic but it's also political, but bottom line is in the scriptures every time Israel was invaded by her enemies or attacked, it was because they had sinned as a nation and needed to repent.
When was the last time a day of national fasting and prayer was called by the President? By Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War, I think.
