Nice to meet you! I'm glad that you found this place and you are able to talk about how you feel. That is a big step. I think everyone who posts here will relate to what you have spoken about. I know how hard it was for me and still is, even though I quit tithing in 1991. It wasn't like there was instant peace, we had a lot of overcome. But being out of TF made it all worthwhile and I dare say, we're in some kind of normal state, finally. You are fortunate to have such a loving husband and family. Hang on to them dearly...they'll help you to keep your sanity.
I also know what you mean about discovering other philosophies, I learned a lot also. It was nice to be able to read and learn from that huge world that is out there and that was kept from us.
But I still believed in God and I have never let go of that. In a way, we were spiritually raped by those who claimed to be representing God, so it is natural to want to throw out the baby with the bath water - so to speak. I have come to realize, it was not God's doing that led me down the wrong path, but the wolves in sheep's clothing. For a long time I was angry at God, but I have moved on from that now, thankfully.
