Nevertheless, you are sure scaring me! I don't like any kind of church of any stripe that is secretive at all. There are many ways of church people or people claiming to be spiritual overseers "controlling" their flocks through scare tactics out of the bible. There is even a verse in the bible that refers to the word of God being a stumbling block to those who reject the truth. So, I'd be very, very careful. A lot of these groups have the same M.O., they use love bombing as a way of trapping the lonely and then they use bible verses to make them think they have to go to church or they are going to hell, etc. But you are there, you can sense how the woman is, if she is hiding something more or not. I think you are pretty observant. Much more than I was as a lonely young adult.
