Why is it?

First of all, don't take this too personally. My Dad and I have had many discussions and conflicting viewpoints on this issue, and have agreed to disagree.

But why is it that generally (remember--generally is a key word) amongst the first generation of exmembers, a faith in God is still retained, whereas amongst the second, a faith in God is abandoned?

I personally do not see that God has been there for me, there are so many instances, from tiny to large, where God could have intervened to make my life go just a bit easier. But I feel that all I've accomplished so far has been pretty much due to a lot of hard work and determination to just keep my head above water.

And before someone says 'That's God working in the background keeping you afloat', I feel I would be a bit offended if God tried to take the credit for the accomplishments I've worked so hard to gain.
