Putting into words our thoughts, experiences and all those intangibles of humanity is hard. I now understand what you are saying. I an see how emotion may be for some people what spirituality is for others.
Acknowledge of faith in God is a life changing event. I asked a friend if she believed in God, she said yes, but my concept of God may not be the same concept you have of God. She was a practicing wicca. For the next few years we had wonderfull conversations about faith. We eventually departed because oil and water don't mix. But the point is that there is reason in what humans do. There is some reason in spiritual faith but the bottom line is that without faith it is impossible to please God. Also, the things of the Spirit must be discerned spiritually. Reason may start the process but at some point the intellect must get out of the way because spiritual things are foolishness to the natural person.
Nothing to do with emotions, just facts that are interpreted spiritually. How much do we NOT know? Because we don't know is that we need the wisdom of ages and the more perfect word of prophecy in our hearts. None of that is intellectual because the intellect can only go so far. But I am already repeating myslef.
