In the summer of 1971, less than a year before I met and joined TF in Canada, I hitchhiked from Canada to California. Somewhere in Northern California, I believe, along the coast, my buddy and I were picked up by some Jesus freaks. I didn't know at the time that's what they were, I didn't even know the term then, but in hindsight that's what they were some sort of Jesus People group. They witnessed to us a bit, not really heavy, no literature or anything, and said that they had a lighthouse they were staying in and invited us to come with them. They seemed strange to us, I remember thinking why would anyone live in a lighthouse, and we were on a great adventure to get stoned in California so we didn't take up their offer. Is it possible this was TF, or is it more likely they were one one of the many Jesus people groups?
