I remember hearing a person who had been in another cult/high demand group speak about their experiences. What they said was that they had lived in another country, learnt the language, married someone from that country, had and sucessfully raised children. Started a successful company in that foreign country/language and externally been a success. But they would much rather have done all that without all the 'baggage' that came with it.

What they were doing was looking for a way to say something positive about themselves in the midst of anarchy and how their resilience enabled them to take something positive from an extremely negative experience. It was an attempt to rebuild themselves [they were FG members] to 'own' the good that they had done.

This was not done to give credit to the group they had been a part of but to, I guess, applaude the human spirit - the ability to develop and overcome despite all kinds of adversity. This is what many second generation ex-members appear to be both endeavouring to do and succeeding in doing. [Can someone please tell me what does the A in SGA/FGA stands for?].
