I had forgotten Berg's thoughts about endangered species until you reminded me here. You're right about his opinions. We can take almost everyone of his opinions and beliefs, believe the exact opposite and end up on the right side of reality.
What people who hold similar opinions on nature as Berg's fail or refuse to recognize is that we live on a tiny fragile ball spinning in space that has finite resources and is enveloped by a very thin atmosphere. We, meaning all life, are in this together, interconnected in ways still not completely understood. What effects one part of the web of life effects us all.
Part of the problem, as I see it, is the belief that this earth and all that is on or in it is for the sole benefit of God's people. That belief has played a large part in the ongoing destruction of the earth by means of resource depletion, pollution, genocide, extinction of species, etc.
