Plenty of times, dear Perry, where I have been embarrassed for being German…like for your encounters e.g…..but am also fond of the fact, that some things get done over here, which I shouldn’t take for granted…
I feal less & less nationalictic all the years passing & had always liked international contacts...the world is colourful, & it was something I thought even before joining...
Not sure, why not more Germans post here...but to be honest, I feel quite happy, not to have to chat in German with others about TF...TF-language happened to be English...although I think they made a big mistake, suppressing the native tongues in homes where I was in...I think it was covered by some FSMs...
(causing some schism...others not understanding you...blah, blah...)
With the result, that when people moved back to their native country, the kids spoke less than good English & hardly the “mothertongue” (or that of the father)...
