that it's great for making fires.

I'm glad you are bringing these things up. What about the guy who spilled his seed on the bed? Can't remember his name now - the memory is definitely slipping. Anyway, that was used not only by Berg, but many other Christians that God was against birth control. The truth is, if you study the bible in depth - God was not mad at him for spilling his seed, that had nothing to do with the whole judgment thing. God was angry at this guy's disobedience to the laws, which was he was supposed to marry his brother's wife as his brother had died and in Jewish law, a widow is to marry her brother-in-law as a way of being cared for. But this guy didn't want to so he refused to consumate his relationship with her. That was the problem, and not that he was trying to practice birth control. It still amazes me everyday how people have convuluted scriptures for their own means.

Another one is Abraham and Isaac. That use to terrify me, that God was going to ask me to sacrifice something as dear as my child. I read a completely different interpretation of that story that settled my mind. I can't remember now - I wish I had kept it somewhere.

How about The Old prophet and the new prophet. That terrified me too. Gee, we could do a whole study on Berg's misuse of scriptures and how he manipulated these biblical stories for his own ends.
