You said, "Maybe think of your physical body & brain as the hard drive & your spiritual body's brain as the CD which can be taken out of the computer, but has all the same information on it."
That's true, I could think of it as such. I could also think of the physical body as a computer that has no CD-ROM drive, floppy drive or USB ports.
In reality, it's a flawed analogy. Just because the CD (or a spirit) exists (though that has yet to be scientifically proven), doesn't mean that the human body contains one--that is to say, the computer has no CD-ROM drive.
I prefer to think of the human body as an ego-conscious bioloically functioning mass of cells and organisims that ceases to exists after it dies.
This gives me a far better outlook on life than I had when I was a Christian. It forces me to focus on my life and make the most of it right now. It forces me to value the people who touch my life. Because once it's done, game over.
If it turns out that there is an afterlife, I believe there will be no consequences for not having chosen the right religion or having had none and ... well it would only be a bonus on top of what was a wonderful and purposeful life, wouldn't it.
