Sorry, I wouldn't say your statement is likely to be based on solid research. There are always going to be a few denominations that say that they are the only true Christians, but to characterize "many" Christians in this narrow light is probably a stereotype.

I've gone from one church to another, Baptist, Pentecostal, Alliance, Mennonite, Charismatic, etc. and all of them accept each other as true Christians. Sure there are doctrinal differences, but they recognize that they all are the body of Christ. In recent years, there is ALSO a much greater acceptance of sincere Catholics as fellow Christians.
