When I referred to Blacks in the U.S., I wasn't referring to slavery, but to their franchisement, that is, their right to vote. My point was that it was not very long ago, in a historical sense, that the U.S. and other western nations denied basic human rights and democratic freedoms to large percentages of their populations. Some would argue that continues in more subtle forms today, and certainly human rights abuses, even atrocities, occur even in or by so-called civilized countries, including the U.S.

As far as slavery goes, I wonder how descendents of slavery (many of whom still suffer from the effects of slavery) feel about your peculiar, almost apologetic take on the history of slavery in the U.S.? Furthermore, didn't both sides in the civil war claim to be Christians? So who were the real Christians?
