Thanks Donny for outlining Paul's quotes from the various poets, etc. It is most certain that Paul was very well read and didn't hesitate to make use of pagan sources that managed to cross over and touch on the truth from time to time. Nevertheless we have the truth in the New Testament and so it would be rather pointless to go looking out there expecting to find the odd case where some poet or playwrite actually says something intelligent. The Lord's says, "Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them." The TV is a 'one way', 'their way' fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness. Here are some of the things that are being taught (In very sneaky and underhanded manner.) on the 'tube'.
*Star Trek - World government is a given.
*Bewitched - Witches are immortal and can bail humans out of trouble. Some witches are good people.
*The Flying Nun - Certain Christians can levitate.
*I Dream of Jeannie - Arabian mythological magic
*ET - Aliens (demons) are cute(?) and friendly.
Most Westerns & Crime Stories - Good Christian's carry guns and shoot bad people.
*Angels on Assignment - People become angels and walk among us.
*The Exorcist - Catholic priests can save you from the devil even though it might mean death for themselves.
*Anti-Christ flicks - Catholic priests will save you by killing the, 'man of sin' with sacred daggers.
*The Mask (w. Jim Carrie)- Possession is a cool life transforming thing.
*Left Behind - If you miss Jesus the first time, catch Him the second time around. Look Donny, I could go on all day exposing all this subtle and sometimes not so subtle, BS. The bottom line is that the Devil is using that stuff to program people. Maybe that's why they call it, 'programming'. Perhaps you can boast, that that stuff doesn't affect you, but what about the young Christian that gets his/her head messed up because they were soaking in that crap? If because of our liberty another falls away and perishes shall we escape the Lord's judgment on such matters? I have messed up so many Christians because of my backslidings that I should have split Hell wide open years ago. I still haven't figured out what kind of super-glue Satan used to blind my eyes, but I do know that if we do not seek the Lord to be led of His Spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God, it has to be because we do not believe Him or trust in His ways. The Lord makes it very plain, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." The churches - most of them teach otherwise.(IE. Holiness is now being taught as something optional or impossible..) (Now that is some strong delusion; Hymn singing but Hell bound, the Devil must be very proud of himself. He is even creating armies of gun toting killers for Jesus and few preachers have the balls to stand up and and expose that madness. Most preachers have been fornicating with the rulers of the earth so long that a spiritual equivalent of syphilis has now driven them totally mad. From the pulpit to the pit, unbelievable. Maybe I could add some lyrics to that, call it,'From the Pulpit to the Pit' and sing it to the tune of, "From a Jack to a King".
Broadway lookout!
