What's wrong with a big brother?

How would a parent learn how to raise children if she/he is not told? Who would do the telling? Not everybody is lucky to have a mother like you.

I have work with young parents, mostly single mothers, who have no idea of how to even pick a child, much less raise a family. Who will teach them as you were being taught by your loving mother? Another loving family? Where are those loving families willing to teach these young people? Are you willing to do it? What certifies that you know what to do, that your parenting skills are better than others?

I am not being antagonistic or trying to pick up a fight but these are the serious questions to address. How do parents learn how to raise children if not from their own parents? And what when those "own" parents do not exist in their lives? Who will teach, how, and what?

At the root os all of this there are two questions, the source of eternal conflic: What makes you be so sure that one person knows better than (big brother) a whole community; and then, what makes you be so sure that (big brother) a community knows better than any one single person?
