Congrats on your daughter and her work. I am sorry to hear about the horror stories she brings home. I know that within the African American community there are many concerns about the eagerness to push abortion and birth control on women.
I agree that a parent needs a voice when a child becomes pregnant and the child needs options besides just abortion. The ideal would be parents and professionals working together with the child in her best interests.
You strike me as a great parent. I think all parents look back at their youth and see things they would have done differently had they been more mature and better equipped to handle things with the knowledge they gain yrs after having them!
I know I did. I did not have good parenting skills as far as knowing how to discipline, communicate. I was so immature when I had children I thought I was going to have a friend instead of a child.
I do like that in countries like France and Sweden, to work in childcare a person had to have degrees that relate to that work unlike here where daycares are mostly staffed by people who have no skills or poor skills in childcare.
