yes...the following is from the wiki...Hindu-mythology-link I gave before...I knew that way before, but didn't have the time/nerve to contradict ; ) :

The story of a great flood is mentioned in ancient Hindu texts, particularly the Satapatha Brahmana. It is compared to the accounts of the Deluge found in several religions and cultures. Manu was informed of the impending flood and was protected by the Matsya Avatara of Lord Vishnu, who had manifested himself in this form to rid the world of morally depraved human beings and protect the pious, as also all animals and plants.

After the flood the Lord inspires the Manusmriti, largely based upon the Vedas, which details the moral code of conduct, of living and the division of society according to the caste system.

In any case, I guess the question is with the original link/article...when Sanskrit was formed...it seems rather later, then staunch Hindus could wish...then it would appear logic, that they had a long oral tradition for the core values???

Anyway...folks...I just read about/skimmed through about 140 pages of that online book...sorry, about that...can't give better advise.

However the "neat" thing in Hinduism for endtime-pupose (I figure, similar new age etc.) is this deification-trip they are on, human beings...politicians...husband...actors and whatnot....they call them gods...even though OT in the psalms is basically saying the same....but I rather take that as a promise for the time after the first resurrection.
