I was never that big into endtime prophesy and current events--even when I was in TFI. Nevertheless, I wonder quite a lot about this crazy age in which we live. It is unlike any other that has gone before in recorded history, which is only about 12,000-15,000 years--just a flash in the pan compared to geological history, which has seen many geological extinctions and massive global changes through volcanism, earthquakes, meteor/comet impacts, and magnetic pole shifts.

I'm not really paranoid, more awestruck with the awareness that there are definitely forces at work on the planet that are greater than anything I can control or do much about.

I've long thought that humankind is probably going the way of the dinosaurs (extinction of human life as we currently know it). This doesn't mean I ignore environmental action--I am active locally with watershed protection--but I don't have a lot of hope that we (humans) are going to save our butts in the long run from extinction. Geologic history seems to suggest that's the likely outcome.

Which is why I hope that the promise of the Second Coming is true. OK, call it a fairy tale, fantasy, what-have-you. I don't care. I just hope the promise of New Heaven/New Earth is true because I'd like this beautiful world and the human experience of it to go on forever in a perfected state. My constant prayer in response to current events has been "Come, Lord Jesus!" I don't fear the suffering that may come to pass in order for the Creator's transforming union with the present creation to happen, but I would like the suffering and strife to end.
