I've got so much I'm grateful for. Just for today here are some of the main things I'm grateful for: a conscious contact with the Great Creator (God), a serenity that helps me to accept even some of life's most difficult hardships, my wife and friend of more than 37 years, my children and grandchildren, wonderful friends, my mom who's healthy and of strong mind at 96, a job that I gives me enjoyment and fulfillment, mountains, streams, lakes, and the great time I had catching some beautiful trout this week, the fish barbecue we had today, and to sum it up I'm grateful for the measure of happiness that is mine to be grateful for today. I'm also grateful that I don't have a guru, that I don't follow one, nor do I need any particular guru or teacher to enjoy the journey I enjoy today.

So don't be sad for me, be glad. There was no great disappointment that resulted in sudden changes in my belief system, there was just a time of growing and evolving, little by slowly one day at a time, learning to live one day at a time, learning to become more present and aware in the moment.

The life I live so fully today is in no way like a dog returning to its vomit. You can take my word for it.

One last point: there truly is a lot of unease in the world. My journey is not about seeking relief for myself in the face of the world's sad and tragic realities. I have peace of heart and mind. I do my best to be a responsible citizen of the world, where I am and with who I am. One of the reasons I'm grateful for and enjoy my job is because of the many wonderful people I come into contact with and who I get to know well as friends, some even as close friends. The beauty that is in every single one of the wide variety of people I'm with day in and day out, and the positive energy that we mutually share is creative, so inspite of the unease and dis-ease in today's current global environement I have all kinds of hope. I can do no other.
