In that Bible-board-thread/discussion I mentioned...I felt that one verse was really missing at first glance...and that is 1.John 4:16...and there it says...the love that God has to us...from all I cross-checked so far it really is in the present tense mode...
...on the other hand not believing in Jesus doesn't get us any brownie points with God the Father either...from the Christian perspective...
It's a bit more "multi-dimensional"...than just "plain"...I am "afraid" to say
