Sometimes it helps to temporarily take antidepressants, and some are better than others. You might ask your dr. about Cymbalta. It not only works on mood but on pain and yet without feeling the side effects that some can give you. Different meds affect people differently, but that one can lift mood without feeling stunned or drugged. Some people get it to help with the aches and pains of fibromyalgia or chronic pain. What works well for one person may not work as effectively for another, but it can make a huge difference regarding the rate of recovery.
My daughter in law recently miscarried after (about a year and a half ago)a lot of difficulty conceiving. A few mos ago they delivered a baby boy who is healthy and beautiful. She did have to have a C-Section and had complications, and the baby was delivered at 35 weeks. She was sick the last month and in the hospital but now she and the baby are doing fine. It was very hard to lose the other one and to see her pain and struggles as she and my son and our families lost a baby and then struggled to deliver this one. My loss as grandmother was hard, but nothing compared to her loss as hard as it was for her. So happy for her now and for a beautiful grandbaby.
If you decide not to take any meds, that is your decision, and some doctors do keep people on meds that don't need them or prescribe them in amounts that actually disable people. However, I've seen people who truly needed medication for months or a year or two that were greatly helped by a good doctor who wasn't prescription happy. Glad your husband is there for support and sorry he is dealing with his own depression but so glad you have outlets with family and friends and a therapist/Dr. and I am honored to be called your friend. :)
