i like what you said about what kind of world you dream of. on the topic of religion being what we do, and how we live, have you ever read brian mclaren? just reading one of his latest now..."why did jesus, moses, the buddhe and mohammed cross the road?" there is probably some sort of summary on the i'net to get an idea of what it's about. but a lot of embracing going on... talking about God can be really challenging, and lead to much misunderstanding (and worse) but brian does a good job of helping the reader think carefully about how we relate to those of other religions (or no religion) as we seek to know and follow God. while we dream... we still have to find a way to live consistent w/ our deepest being. peace.
